Jesus said, “Father, forgive them"

'When they had come to the place called Golgotha, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left'. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:33, 34). Jesus is now going to the Father. So forgiveness is necessary for Him. 

About 2000 years ago, on the 14th of Abib, the Passover, Jesus was crucified and killed for the sins of mankind. That evening at 9 o'clock (3.00 pm), Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands, I commit My spirit.” On the same day, The Passover goat was slaughtered on the evening of the 14th of Abib so that the Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. The 'people of the promise' did not understand God's eternal purpose - the people who observe the Sabbath and the festivals. Therefore, He looked at them and said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” 

1) Asking for forgiveness for the suffering of the people of Israel in the future:

Jesus Christ was on trial before Pilate. Pilate found He is not guilty. He washed his hands and said, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.” And the Jews said, “His blood be on us and on our children.” Jesus sees the punishment of this bloodshed, which is going to fall upon the Jews in his mind. Jesus, while carrying the cross, turned to face the people and said, "Do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children."

He also sees the punishment that will come upon the Jewish people for the blood of the prophets shed in Jerusalem, the blood of Jesus Christ, the blood of Zechariah’s son of Barakiah. 

He sees the Jews being scattered to all parts of the earth. He sees the Jerusalem temple being demolished without one stone upon another. For that, He is enraged in his mind. He also sees the destruction coming to the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and is troubled in His mind. This is what happened in history. AD 70, a Roman general named Titus came. Jerusalem was destroyed; The Jerusalem Temple was razed to the ground; Hundreds of thousands of Jews were crucified and murdered, and blood ran down the streets. Jerusalem was trampled by Gentiles. Until the "6-day war" in 1967, the sufferings of Jerusalem were not counted. During the 1000-year reign of the Pope, millions of Jews were murdered. To top it all off, Hitler gassed 6 million Jews in World War II.

Seeing the great suffering going to fall upon the Jews, He asks forgiveness from his father for them. He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

2) Forgiveness is His character:

If we turn to the scriptures, those who willingly forgive and forget others are exalted by God. 

Even in the Lord's Prayer, Matt. In 6:12- we say, “And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.” If you cannot forgive others, God cannot forgive you. If God, who is perfect, has forgiven you, forgive yourself. Those who do not forgive and forget their life become addicted to bitterness and hatred.

When Abraham and Lot had a problem, Abraham gave up and said to Lot, "Please let there be no strife between you and me, for we are brethren." (Genesis 13:8).

When Isaac was digging a well, when the inhabitants of the land came against him, he forgave them (Genesis 26) and moved to another place. God blessed him.

Esau seeks to kill Jacob. Jacob fled. 21 years have passed. He is coming back. Both have forgotten their old enmity and are forgiven. Jacob looked at Esau and kissed him, saying, "I have seen your face as though I had seen the face of God" (Genesis 33:10).

Joseph became the ruler of Egypt, a world power. Those who threw him into the pit stand before him. He reveals himself. He forgives and kisses them. Genesis 45:8 says, "It was not you who sent me here, but God."

Shimei curses David as he flees in fear of his son Absalom. David's soldiers are going to kill him. David stopped them and said, "Let him curse; for so the Lord has ordered him." (2 Sam.16:11).

Children of God, if you want to rise in your Christian life, forgive, forgive, and forget. As an example, Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” Let us have the mind of Jesus and forgive and forget. 

3) Jesus becomes High Priest:

In Job 16:21, the pious Job said to God in the midst of his tribulation, "Oh, that one might plead for a man with God, As a man pleads for his neighbor!." Beloved in Christ, this is why Jesus died and rose and ascended through the heavens as the true High Priest. He is the eternal high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. Heb.9:24- Not in a place made with hands, but now entered into the fellowship of God for us. Jesus came from the tribe of Judah, in the royal family of David, and was the royal high priest. He purifies us by offering Himself as a blameless sacrifice. Now, He is at the right hand of God. He intercedes for us for our sins, transgressions, and weaknesses.

"Father, forgive 'X' and forgive 'Y' " he has done unknowingly; He is interceding for you and me.

He intercedes and protects us by saying, "Let this be one year, let us apply manure, it will bear good fruit."

The end this His priestly ministry is near. The day of trampling His enemies is near. His future as a righteous Judge and King is at hand. Behold, the sound of the trumpet is about to be heard in our ears. Now, let us be washed and sanctified by His blood.

A blink of an eye. We will be transfigured - Christlike. Jesus, who forgave us, is still doing His ministry as a High Priest in heaven, saying, "Father, forgive them."

So, let us forgive and keep on forgiving. Then we will bear much fruits. May God give us grace for that. Amen.

மன்னியுங்கள்

'கபாலஸ்தலம் என்று சொல்லப்பட்ட இடத்தில் அவர்கள் சேர்ந்த பொழுது  அங்கே இயேசுவையும், அவருடைய வலதுபக்கத்தில் ஒரு குற்றவாளியையும், அவருடைய இடதுபக்கத்தில் ஒரு குற்ற வாளியையும் சிலுவைகளில் அறைந்தார்கள்.' அப்பொழுது இயேசு "பிதாவே இவர்களுக்கு மன்னியும், தாங்கள் செய்கிறது இன்னதென்று அறியாதிருக்கிறார்களே" என்றார். (லூக்.23:33,34). இயேசு இப்போது பிதாவினிடத்திற்கு போகப் போகிறார். எனவே மன்னித்தல் அவருக்கு அவசியம். 

சுமார் 2000 வருடங்களுக்கு முன் ஆபிப் மாதம் 14- ம் தேதி, அதாவது பஸ்கா பண்டிகையன்று இயேசு மனுக்குலத்தின் பாவத்துக்காக சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டு கொலை செய்யப்பட்டார். அன்று மாலை 9- ம் மணி வேளையில் (3.00 pm) அவர் "பிதாவே உம்முடைய கைகளில் என் ஆவியை ஒப்புவிக்கிறேன்" என்று மகா சத்தமாய் கூப்பிட்டு  ஜீவனை விட்டார். இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் எகிப்தின் அடிமைத்தனத்திலிருந்து விடுதலை அடைவதற்கு அதே ஆபிப் மாதம் 14-ம் தேதி மாலை வேளையில் பஸ்கா ஆடு அடிக்கப் பட்டது.

தேவனுடைய அனாதி தீர்மானத்தை- ஓய்வு நாளையும், பண்டிகைகளையும் ஆசரிக்கும் வாக்குத்தத்தின் மக்கள் புரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை. எனவே,அவர் அவர்களைப்பார்த்து, "பிதாவே இவர்களுக்கு மன்னியும் தாங்கள் செய்கிறது இன்னதென்று அறியாதிருக்கிறார்களே" என்றார். 

1) இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்கு வரப்போகும் துன்பத்துக்காக மன்னிப்பு கோருதல்:

இயேசு கிறிஸ்து, பிலாத்து முன்பாக நியாயம் விசாரிக்கப்படுகிறார். அவர் குற்ற மற்றவர் என்று பிலாத்து கண்டு கொண்டான். 

அவன் கையைக் கழுவி, "இந்த நீதிமானுடைய இரத்தப்பழிக்கு நான் பங்குஅல்ல" என்றான். அதற்கு யூதர்கள் "இவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழி எங்கள் மேலும்  எங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் மேலும் இருப்பதாக" என்று சொன்னார்கள். இந்தப் இரத்தப்பழியினால் வரும் ஆக்கினையை இயேசு மனக்கண்ணில் காண்கிறார். இயேசு, சிலுவை சுமந்துகொண்டுப் போகும் போது மக்கள் முகமாய் திரும்பி "நீங்கள் எனக்காக அழாமல் உங்களுக்காகவும், உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகவும் அழுங்கள்” என்றார். 

யூத மக்கள் எருசலேமில் சிந்தின தீர்க்கத்தரிசிகளின் இரத்தம்,  இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் இரத்தம், பராக்கியாவின் மகன் சகரியாவின் இரத்தம் இவைகளுக்கு அவர்கள்மேல் வரும் ஆக்கினையையும் பார்க்கிறார். 

பூமியின் எல்லாத் திசைகளுக்கும் யூதர்கள் சிதறடிக்கப்படுவதைப் பார்க்கிறார்.எருசலேம் தேவாலயம் ஒரு கல்லின்மேல் ஒரு கல் இல்லாமல் இடிக்கப்படுவதைப் பார்க்கிறார். அதற்காக மனதில் கிலேசப்படுகிறார், அங்கலாய்க்கிறார். ஆபிரகாம்,ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபின் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு வரும் அழிவைப் பார்க்கிறார், மனம் பதறுகிறார். சரித்திரத்தில் இவ்வாறு நடந்தன.. கி.பி.70, தீத்து என்ற ரோம தளபதி வருகிறான். எருசலேம் அழிக்கப்பட்டது; தேவாலயம் தரைமட்டம் ஆக்கப்பட்டது; இலட்சக்கணக்கான யூதர்கள் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டுக் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டார்கள், வீதிகளில் ரத்தம் ஆறாய் ஓடியது. எருசலேம் புற இனத்து மக்களால் மிதிக்கப்பட்டது. 1967- ல்  6- நாள் யுத்தம்வரை எருசலேம் அடைந்தத் துன்பங்களுக்குக் கணக்கில்லை.போப்பினுடைய 1000 ஆண்டு ஆட்சிகாலத்தில் இலட்சக்ணக்கான யூதர்கள் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டார்கள். எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மகுடமாக இரண்டாம் உலக யுத்தத்தில் ஹிட்லர் 60 லட்சம் யூதர்களை,விஷ வாயு மூலம் கொன்றுகுவித்தான். 

தன் பிதாவினிடத்தில் இவர்களுக்காய் மன்னிப்பு கேட்கிறார். "பிதாவே இவர்களுக்கு மன்னியும், தாங்கள் செய்கிறது இன்னதென்று அறியாதிருக்கிறார்களே" என்று வேண்டினார். 

2) மன்னித்தல் அவரது குணம்:

வேதபுத்தகத்தை நாம் புரட்டிப் பார்த்தால், மற்றவர்களை மனப்பூர்வமாய் மன்னித்து மறந்தவர்கள் தேவனால் உயர்த்தப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள். 

கர்த்தருடைய ஜெபத்தில் கூட நாம் மத். 6:12- ல் "எங்கள் கடனாளிகளுக்கு நாங்கள் மன்னிக்கிறது போல எங்கள் கடன்களை எங்களுக்கு மன்னியும்", என்கிறோம். உங்களால் மற்றவர்களை மன்னிக்க முடியவில்லை என்றால், தேவனால் உங்களை மன்னிக்க முடியாது. பரிபூரணமாய் இருக்கிற தேவன் உங்களை மன்னித்தது உண்டானால், நீங்களும் மன்னியுங்கள். மன்னித்து மறக்காதவர்கள் வாழ்க்கை கசப்புக்கும்,வெறுப்புக்கும் அடிமைப்பட்டதாக மாறிவிடுகிறது. 

ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் லோத்துவுக்கும் பிரச்சினை வந்தபோது, ஆபிரகாம் லோத்துவை நோக்கி, “எனக்கும் உனக்கும் வாக்குவாதம் வேண்டாம்,நாம் சகோதரர்கள்" என்று விட்டுக்கொடுத்து மேன்மை பெற்றான்.” (ஆதி.13:8)

ஈசாக்கு கிணறு வெட்டும்போது தேசத்தின் குடிகள் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய் வந்த போது அவர்களை மன்னித்து (ஆதி.26) வேறுயிடத்துக்கு மாறிப்போனான். தேவன் அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்.  

ஏசா யாக்கோபை கொலை செய்யத் தேடுகிறான். யாக்கோபு தப்பி ஓடிவிட்டான். 21 வருடங்கள் கடந்து விட்டன. மீண்டும் வருகிறான். இருவரும் பழைய பகையை மறந்து மன்னித்து விட்டார்கள். யாக்கோபு ஏசாவைப் பார்த்து "நான் உம்முடைய முகத்தைக் கண்டது தேவனுடைய முகத்தைக் கண்டதுபோல இருக்கிறது." (ஆதி.33:10) என்று சொல்லி முத்தம் செய்தான். 

யோசேப்பு,உலக வல்லரசாகிய எகிப்துக்கு அதிபதியாகிவிட்டான். அவனைக்குழியில் தள்ளிவிட்டவர்கள் அவன் முன் வந்து நிற்கிறார்கள். தன்னை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான். மன்னித்து முத்தம் செய்கிறான். ஆதி.45:8, "நீங்கள் அல்ல தேவனே என்னை இவ்விடத்துக்கு அனுப்பினார்" என்கிறான்.  

தாவீது தன் மகன் அப்சலோமுக்குப் பயந்து ஓடும்போது சீமேயி தூஷிக்கிறான். தாவீதின் போர்ச்சேவகர்கள் அவனை கொலைசெய்யப் போகிறார்கள். தாவீது அவர்களை தடுத்து நிறுத்தி "அவன் தூஷிக்கட்டும், அப்படிச் செய்யக் கர்த்தர் அவனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறார்" (2 சாமு.16:11)என்றான். 

தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகளே  நீங்கள் உங்கள் கிறிஸ்தவ வாழ்க்கையில் உயரவேண்டுமென்றால், மன்னியுங்கள், மன்னித்து மறந்து விடுங்கள். அதற்கு முன்மாதிரியாகத்தான், இயேசு" பிதாவே இவர்களுக்கு மன்னியும்,  தாங்கள் செய்கிறது இன்னதென்று அறியாதிருக்கிறார்களே" என்றார். இயேசுவின் சிந்தை உடையவர்களாய், மன்னிப்போம், மறப்போம். 

3) இயேசு பிரதான ஆசாரியராகிறார்:

யோபு 16:21-ல் யோபு என்ற பக்தன் தன் உபத்திரத்தின் மத்தியில் தேவனை நோக்கி "ஒரு மனுபுத்திரன் தன் சிநேகிதனுக்காக வழக்காடுவது போல, தேவனோடே மனிதனுக்காக வழக்காடுகிறவர் ஒருவர் உண்டானால் நலமாயிருக்கும்" என்கிறான். கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள் அன்பானவர்களே, இதற்காகத்தான் இயேசு மரித்து, எழுந்து வானங்களின் வழியாய் பரலோகத்துக்குப்போன மெய்யான பிரதான ஆசாரியராய் இருக்கிறார். இவர் மெல்கிசேதேக்கின் முறைமையின்படி நித்திய பிரதான ஆசாரியர்.  எபி.9:24- கைகளினால் செய்யப்பட்ட ஸ்தலத்தில் அல்ல, இப்பொழுது நமக்காக தேவனுடைய சமூகத்தில் பிரத்தியட்சமாய் பிரவேசித்திருக்கிறார். யூதா கோத்திரத்தில், தாவீது அரசன் குடும்பத்தில் வந்து, ராஜரீக பிரதான ஆசாரியராய் இருக்கிறார். தம்மைத்தாமே பழுதற்றப்பலியாக ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து நம்மை செத்தக் கிரியைகள் நீக்கி சுத்திகரிக்கிறார். 

 இப்பொழுது அவர் தேவனுடைய வலது பக்கத்திலிருக்கிறார். நமக்காக, நமது பாவங்கள், மீறுதல்கள், பெலவீனங்களுக்காகப் பரிந்து பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார். 

"பிதாவே ‘X’ க்கு மன்னியும், ‘Y’ க்கு மன்னியும்" அறியாமல் செய்து விட்டான், மன்னியும் "என்று உனக்காக, எனக்காக  பரிந்து பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார். 

"இந்த ஒரு வருடம் இருக்கட்டும், கொத்தி எரு போடுவோம், நல்ல கனிகொடுப்பான்" என்று நம்மை பரிந்து பேசி பாதுகாக்கிறார். 

இந்த அவருடைய  ஆசாரிய ஊழியம் முடியும் நாள் நெருங்கிவிட்டது. அவருடைய சத்துருக்களை பாதப்படியாக்கும் நாள் நெருங்கிவிட்டது. அவர் நீதியுள்ள நியாயாதிபதியாக, ராஜாவாக வருங்காலம் நெருங்கிவிட்டது. இதோ எக்காள சத்தம் நம் காதில் கேட்கப்போகிறது. இப்பொழுது அவரின் ரத்தத்தால் கழுவப்பட்டு பரிசுத்தம் காப்போம். 

ஒரு கண்இமைக்கும் தருணம்தான். நாம் மறு ரூபம் -  கிறிஸ்துவைப்போல் மாறிவிடுவோம். நம்மை மன்னித்த இயேசு இப்பொழுதும் பரலோகத்தில் "பிதாவே இவர்களுக்கு மன்னியும்" என்று பிரதான ஆசாரியனாக தன் ஊழியத்தைச் செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார். 

எனவே,நாம் மன்னிப்போம்,  மன்னித்துக்கொண்டே இருப்போம். அப்பொழுது மிகுந்த கனி கொடுப்போம். அதற்கு நமக்கு கிருபை அருளுவாராக. ஆமேன்.
